A Legacy of Faith, Excellence & Community
For 100 years, St. Anthony Catholic School has been a cornerstone of Catholic education in Fort Lauderdale. Founded in 1926, St. Anthony holds the distinct honor of being the first Catholic school established in Broward County.
Located near downtown Fort Lauderdale, our historic school was designed by renowned architect Francis Louis Abreu and opened its doors in September 1926 under the pastoral direction of Father Michael Mullaly and the leadership of Sister Marguerite Cichansk, OP. The Adrian Dominican Sisters taught and administered St. Anthony from its founding until 1982.
A Century of Catholic Education
Throughout its history, St. Anthony has played an important role in the growth of Catholic education in Broward County. In 1932, St. Anthony became Broward County's first Catholic high school. The high school program later became Catholic Central and eventually evolved into what is known today as Saint Thomas Aquinas High School. In 1952, the high school grades transitioned to a new campus, while St. Anthony continued its mission of educating students through eighth grade.
Over the decades, generations of religious and lay leaders, educators, families, and supporters have helped shape the school and the community we know today.
St. Anthony Today
Today, St. Anthony Catholic School serves more than 430 students in PreK3 through 8th Grade. Under the leadership of Principal Jenna McIntosh and Father Rolando, St. Anthony continues to build upon a century-long tradition of faith, academic excellence, and community.
Our students, faculty, and staff begin each day together at flag raising—a cherished tradition that reflects the strong sense of community at the heart of St. Anthony.
